Marley - Large Pony For Sale

Marley is a left brain extrovert with average spirit and balanced go and whoa. He loves to play with his buddies in the pasture and is a fun, athletic horse to ride. At the same time, he has a great mind and is very generous with his riders. Under saddle, Marley is a born teacher, but for ground games, he does best with someone who can match his energy and give him some direction without over facing him. He really enjoys altering something specific, slow, and brainy, like backing under a narrow arch, with something more animated, like circling over a jump. Too much circling and he can lose confidence and get a little hot. Too much slow stuff, and he'll make his own fun.

Marley prefers to play before grooming and tacking up but loves to cuddle once he's settled. He is full of personality so he needs a person who understands that he's trying to be cute when he takes blankets off the racks, opens stall doors, and tries to lead other horses. Marley wants everything to be about him 24/7. If you're talking to someone, he wants to be in the middle of the conversation. If you're setting up jumps and obstacles, he's right there checking things out and knocking things over. He's a pony who is invested in every moment of life.

Around the start of the summer, we began playing with Marley on a 45' line instead of just a 12. or 22'. We have been practicing jumping logs, changes of direction, standing on pedestals, etc. Marley is doing well at liberty, also. He understands matching and mirroring the rider walk/trot and will also jump jumps and come right back to us. He will even do a figure 8 pattern around 2 barrels at liberty in a full sized arena. Liberty is easier for Marley than it is for most horses.

Marley generally rides in a jumping hackamore (just a rounded noseband, no vice action) and a treeless saddle. We are looking for a home that will consider natural tack and will keep him in a herd environment with room to romp and shelter. He has a big play drive so does need turn out with other geldings who like to play. The ideal home would be with a natural horsemanship student who loves to jump. He is definitely a pony you can share with all your friends and family and he will have fun teaching them all how to ride.
